State Notice: West Islip Sex Offender Has Left Higbie Lane Residence
Douglas Oates is now living somewhere in Nassau County.
A registered sex offender who had been living on Higbie Lane, across from the former Westbrook Elementary School, has relocated to Nassau County, according to an e-alert issued Monday by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.
Douglas Oates has left the Higbie home he had been living in and is now classified as being homeless in Nassau County, according to the alert notice. Once he has a new address he must report it to the state registry.
His residency in West Islip sparked residents’ protest in the past two weeks given its proximity to the learning center operating out of the former school building.
