Search Continues for Dog Taken From West Islip Home During Burglary

Police are looking for an individual who took cash and family pet from a Higbie Lane home in October.

Suffolk County Police have joined a West Islip family in the search for their dog, who went missing following a burglary in October.

Joey, also known as JoJo, a 3-year-old Maltese/Dachsund mix, was taken from a Higbie Lane home on October 23, along with an unspecified amount of cash. According to police, one or more suspects entered the home through a basement door between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Since then, Joey's family launched a desperate search.

"Our family and kids are devastated and heartbroken. Please help bring our baby home!" Donna, Joey's owner, wrote on Patch after the incident.

Joey is described as weighing 13 lbs., with cream-colored fur and gray hair on his ears and the tip of his tail.

Police are offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest in the theft. Anyone with information is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
