Police: West Islip TD Bank Robbed

Robbers makes off with an undisclosed amount of money Wednesday afternoon, police say.

Suffolk Police are investigating a robbery that occurred Wednesday afternoon at the new on Montauk Highway.

Police said a man entered at noon and showed one of the tellers a note which demanded money.  The teller complied and the man fled on foot.

According to police, witnesses described the man was as white, between 5 foot-10 and 5 foot-11, with a medium build and in his mid 20s.  He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark-colored pants, and dark sneakers with white laces, police said.

The bank, which held its grand opening cermony on Jan. 28, is the newest business to join the West Islip community. 

Detectives are asking anyone with further information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.  All calls will remain confidential.
