Third Precinct officers responded to a municipal parking lot on Gibson Street, just east of Maple Avenue, at 6:50 a.m. after two people who were walking to the ferry reported finding the female body.

The body of the woman, who has not been identified yet, will be taken to the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death, police said.
