Ocean Beach Police Chief Cited for 20 Years of Service

George B. Hesse has received several commendations.

Suffolk County Legislator Tom Barraga, R-West Islip, recently presented Ocean Beach Chief of Police George B. Hesse with a proclamation for his 20 years of service on the police force.

Chief Hesse was first sworn in as an Ocean Beach police officer in December of 1992. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2001 and later promoted to Chief of Police in January of 2006.

During his career Chief Hesse has been commended for his heroic acts; receiving the Police Bravery Bar in 2012, and in 2013 the American Legion Medal of Heroism as well as the Suffolk County Sandy Bar for the rescue of a village worker during Super Storm Sandy.
