LI Crimes: Call of Duty Sore Loser Sends SWAT Teams to Teen's Home

SWAT teams, Long Beach and Nassau County Police officers, and MTA Police responded to a hostage call at a Long Beach home Tuesday afternoon, but the 911 call turned out to be a horrible prank stemming from a video game, according to multiple reports.

A man called Long Beach Police at around 3 p.m. and reported that "he had shot members of his family and was threatening to kill others," according to CBS.

The call sent officers swarming around the Laurelton Boulevard home, prepared for hostage negotiations.

When police entered the home, however, they found no one was injured and that the man was actually playing a video game on the internet.

A Center Moriches teacher from Patchogue was arrested Monday morning after police say she was driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol when she struck an unoccupied vehicle and then fled the scene. 

According to police, Tracey Forman, 47, was driving a 2013 Hyundai when her vehicle struck a Plymouth Voyager that was parked off the roadway at 210 Brookfield Avenue in Center Moriches around 8:30 a.m.

A Massapequa man who faked his own death to collect insurance money was ordered to spend up to seven years in prison, according to the Nassau County District Attorney's Office. 

Raymond Roth, 49, was sentenced Thursday to spend between two and seven years in jail for concocting a plan to collect life insurance money by pretending to drown in Jones Beach.

The sentencing also included another conviction involving Roth, who had pretended to be a police officer, followed a woman and demanded that she get in his van or he would arrest her.

Two Hicksville men were arrested Wednesday for a burglary that took place Tuesday at 4:20 p.m. in Hicksville High School, authorities said.

According to detectives, Nassau  were called to Hicksville High School to investigate two men who were in the locker room going through bags.  When police arrived, they identified Karn Chauhan, 19, 0f 202 1st Street, Hicksville, as one of the men who had taken two cell phones from separate bags.  Police say that Chauhan had been informed in the past that he was not allowed on school property.  He was arrested at scene without incident. 

A New Hyde Park man was arrested for a burglary that occurred on Saturday, April 19 at 9:30 a.m. in Mineola, Nassau police said.

According to detectives, Charles M. Schulz, 23, of 147 N. 6th Street was walking on Willis Avenue when he smashed the front window of The Lucky Mini Mart at 209 Willis Avenue with an unknown object.  

Schulz fled on foot in unknown direction, according to police. A short time later he entered an apartment on 1st Street through an unlocked window. The male resident, 39 years of age, was awoken by a noise and confronted Schulz. After a brief struggle Schulz fled again without any proceeds. The victim suffered minor injuries, police said.
