Cops: 42 Drunk Teens Caught on Coach Bus with Booze, Driver Charged

A coach bus driver faces endangerment charges for driving 42 teens, laden with a large amount of alcohol, from Garden City to Montauk, State Police said. 

Riverside State officers said they received a 911 call at 9:30 p.m. Monday reporting the sound of a woman screaming at a Sunrise Highway rest stop. 

Responding officers found a Coachman limousine bus with 42 teens, ages 16 and 17, in "various stages of intoxication," cops confirmed. Police also discovered more than 100 cans of beer and several empty gallon bottles of whiskey and rum on the bus.

Police: Riverhead Man Drove Stolen Car Wrong Way on Highway While Fleeing Police

A Riverhead man driving a stolen Jeep attempted to flee police by driving the wrong way on Sunrise Highway early Wednesday morning before being caught inside a Bohemia home a short time later, police said. 

According to police, Fifth Precinct officer Jason Keenan observed Robert Noon III, 39, driving a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee that had been reported stolen from Yaphank on April 15 on Main Street in Patchogue just after 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Cops: Duo Tried to Steal from Walmart, Officers Injured in Struggle

A man and woman face charges after they tried to steal video game controllers and were found with heroin in Massapequa, according to Nassau County Police.

Officers were at the Sunrise Mall Walmart when they saw Gregory Insardi, 26, of North Massapequa, and Melanie Hlipatsos, 23, of South Farmingdale, try to steal six Wii controllers. An officer and store security stopped the duo, who had tried to hide the controllers in a shopping bag and the man's waistband.

Cops Find Man Sleeping in Car with Stolen Goods

A man was found sleeping in his car with lottery tickets he had stolen from a Massapequa deli, reported Nassau County Police.

Officers responded to do a "well check" the Wantagh Avenue area after receiving reports of a man sleeping in a car at 8:05 a.m. Thursday. Frank Lalima, 20, of Levittown, was found sleeping in his car and, after an investigation, was found with lottery scratch-offs, a plastic lottery ticket dispensing case, and marijuana, cops said. The lottery tickets had been stolen from The Culinary Deli on Unqua Road in Massapequa earlier that day, police reported.

Cement Truck Driver Convicted in Fatal Collision

A Mineola man was convicted Wednesday of manslaughter and assault in an incident that left a school bus driver dead and others injured.

Raymond Ragen, 45, was convicted in a jury trial before Nassau County Court Judge William Donnino of second-degree manslaughter and second-degree assault for crashing his cement truck into an overpass and a school bus in Locust Valley in July 2012, killing the bus driver, seriously injuring an attendant, and injuring four children.

Dina Lohan Pleads Guilty to DWI, Speeding

Dina Lohan, 51, of Merrick, pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated and speeding.

Lohan is due back in court for sentencing on June 3. She is expected to receive a conditional discharge, 100 hours of community service, driver’s license revocation and installation of an interlock device for a period of one year, participation in a drinking driver program and victims impact panel, a fine of $2,600, and a $483 surcharge.

Police: 3 Arrested at Massive Stony Brook House Party

Three people were arrested after police were called to a "loud party" at a Stony Brook home last Saturday afternoon, police said. 

Sixth Precinct officers responded to 1337 Stony Brook Road at 3:30 p.m. and found about 200 people at the home, police said.  

Police: Man Stole Cancer Donation Box From St. James Gas Station

Police are asking for the public’s help to identify and locate a man who they say stole a donation box from a gas station in St. James last month.

Police said the man entered Citgo, located at 545 North Country Road, on March 9 at approximately 1:45 p.m. and took a cancer donation box from the counter that contained cash.
