Huntington Station Man Hurt on LIE

Police say he left vehicle while driving in Dix Hills.

A Huntington Station man was seriously injured Saturday when he left his vehicle while traveling on the Long Island Expressway, Suffolk County Police said.

Christopher Wilson was traveling east on the LIE just west of Exit 51 in Dix Hills, when he left his 1993 Chevrolet Blazer, and landed on the road at 1:18 p.m., police said. The vehicle continued for about another quarter mile before crashing into a light post on the south side of the roadway, and then continued into the grass and struck a couple of trees.

Detectives are investigating whether Wilson, 40, fell out of the car, or jumped on purpose. No cars struck Wilson.

The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and Wilson taken via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital in serious condition.

Second Squad detectives are investigating the accident.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
