Police: Teens Robbed At Knifepoint on Sunrise Highway

Three teenagers were robbed on Sunrise Highway by three men wielding a handgun and knife on Sunrise Highway near North Delaware Avenue late Tuesday night.

According to Newsday, police said the robbers got away with little more than an Apple iPhone and $10.

The thieves remain at large.

Two Patchogue Men Snagged in NJ Drug Bust

Two Patchogue men are under arrest after Palisades Parkway Police nabbed them with four others for allegedly carrying a large supply of drugs.

According to the New Jersey agency, the bust took place Monday at around 3 a.m. when officer Gregory Kimbro Jr. discovered a grey 2007 Honda with New York plates parked illegally in the Sunoco gas station on the

Police say the vehicle attempted to pull away from the fire zone, but traveled in the wrong direction of traffic. Officer Joseph Villone assisted Kimbro in stopping the vehicle.

When the driver of the vehicle opened the window, Kimbro reported that he smelled marijuana wafting out. Seated in the car were three males, and one female. A fourth male approached the vehicle as he emerged from the store. Police say two of these men were Corey Monath, 26 of Patchogue, and Justin Clark, 23 of Patchogue.

Postal Secretary Charged wtih Disability Fraud

A U.S. Post Office secretary who may have worked at the post office’s Melville processing and distribution center is facing charges that she fraudulently collected more than $50,000 in disability payments since March 2012.

According to a complaint from the U.S. District Attorney's Office, Zdena Hock, 65, of Mineola claimed that she sustained an injury to her back and neck while filing paperwork in January 2012 and was no longer able to carry out routine tasks. The complaint indicates that Hock took six days to file the claim and the post office could not verify whether she had been injured or not, which resulted in the investigation.

Arrest Made in Elementary School Fire

Suffolk County Police have made an arrest in a fire set yesterday afternoon at John F. Kennedy Elementary School in West Babylon.


A 16-year old boy was arrested for setting a blaze on the school's playground. Luckily, the blaze was contained and extinguished by the West Babylon Fire Department, located down the street, within a short time.

The teen, whose name was not released, is being charged with Arson in the fifth degree and criminal mischief.
