Massapequa Man Charged in DWI Crash

A Massapequa man with a child in his car was arrested Saturday afternoon and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, Suffolk County Police said. 

Ryan Hannigan, 36, was charged under Leandra’s Law after the Jeep Grand Cherokee he was driving turned the wrong way down an Amityville street and struck another car, police allege. 

W. Babylon Resident Found Guilty on Rape, Incest Charges

A West Babylon man was found guilty of multiple sexual offenses by a jury in Kentucky this past week.

According to the Park City Daily News, Jose Lopez, a 42-year-old West Babylon man, was found guilty on Tuesday, August 6 by a jury in Barren Circuit Court of third-degree rape, incest, first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor and first-degree sexual abuse.

West Islip People's United Bank Robbed

The West Islip People's United Bank was robbed Friday afternoon.

Police said a man approached a teller and displayed a note demanding cash at 3 p.m. The teller complied and the man fled from the bank, which is located inside the Stop & Shop at 400 Union Boulevard. No one was injured during the robbery.

Slayer Graffiti in Commack Park Confused With Hate Crime 

Wicks Park, which is home to the Commack South Little League, was vandalized Tuesday night, police said.

One of the buildings on the town park property was marked with black graffiti.

Police were initially investigating the vandalism as a hate crime after a resident called in the incident, but officials then realized the markings, which included an anarchy sign, were symbols from the band Slayer.
