Police: Islip Teen Burglarized Fire Island Home

An Islip man was arrested early Tuesday and charged with burglarizing a home in Ocean Bay Park, according to Suffolk County police.

Shea Kensler, 19, was found hiding on the deck of a home after a woman on Seneca Walk told police she heard a noise in her home, police said.

She was arrested on the spot and charged with second degree burglary.

A Brooklyn woman was arrested Monday for driving while intoxicated after she crashed her vehicle into a Huntington house.

Police say, Sophia Anderson was driving her Mercedes south on Browns Road when she failed to turn at the Southdown Road t-intersection. Anderson’s vehicle went through the intersection and crashed into a home located at 200 Southdown Rd. before coming to a stop in the backyard at 4:05 a.m.

A 90-year-old woman and her caretaker were inside the home but were not injured. Anderson, 21, was transported to  where she was treated and released.

Anderson was arrested and charged with DWI. She was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at the Fourth Precinct.

26-Year-Old Victim of DWI Crash Dies in Hospital

A 26-year-old woman died of her injuries following an alleged DWI  in Holbrook last week. 

Kristen Iacono, of East Setauket, was driving west on the north service road of the Long Island Expressway early on the morning of May 23 when a vehicle driven by James O'Donnell, of Centereach, slammed into Iacono's 2005 Lincoln, according to police. 

Iacono was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where she died a day later. 

O'Donnell, 47, was not injured in the crash, which occurred at the intersection of Holbrook Road and the service road. O'Donnell, who had been travelling north on Holbrook Road, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. There's been no word from the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office as to whether charges will be upgraded against O'Donnell in light of Iacono's death. 

A passenger in Iacono's car, Joseph Kemp, 30, of Holbrook, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the hospital.

Two Amityville women assaulted a pair of cops Saturday after one of them was placed under arrest for using children to shoplift, police said.

Clara Young, 23, was spotted by security at a Pathmark in Massapequa filling a shopping cart along with two kids, aged 9 and  10 at about 4:40 p.m.

Young exited the store with the 10-year-old, and got into a car parked outside, while the 9-year-old tried to push the cart out of the store wthout paying, cops said.

All three were stopped by store security, who called police and Young's friend Shakeeta Legette, 29, the mother of the two boys.

When cops tried to arrest Young, she allegedly began to hit them.  Legette then joined in and also assaulted the officers, cops said.

One officer sustained a shoulder injury while the other officer hurt his elbow. They were treated at a local hospital, police said.

Young was charged with petty larceny, assault 2nd and resisting arrest, while Legette was charged with assault 2nd, endangering the welfare of a child and obstruction of governmental administration.
