Armed Carjacking Reported in North Babylon
Police are investigating an armed carjacking that occurred in North Babylon last week.
Police say two people were sitting in a 2003 Infiniti in the Sunset Plaza shopping center on Deer Park Avenue when someone came up to the vehicle around 10:30 p.m. last Thursday. The robber displayed a gun and demanded the occupants get out of the vehicle. The robber then fled in the Infiniti, police said.
BAY SHORE
A Bay Shore man is facing two felony DWI charges, including a Leandra's Law DWI, well as traffic violations, after erratic driving on the Southern State Parkway Friday night caught the attention of a New York State Trooper.
Julio Ramos, 41, was driving his gray Chevrolet pick-up truck unsafely about 8:50 p.m., according to a trooper driving in the same traffic lanes during patrol near Route 110. Ramos ultimately passed the trooper’s car and drove across hazardous markings near the center median, according to police. A traffic stop was then initiated and while interviewing Ramos the trooper detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage, states a police report.

Police say Ramos, who was traveling with two children in his vehicle, failed sobriety tests and produced a positive breath sample of .21 percent BAC.

Police Seeking Driver Who Fled After Passenger Fell Out of Vehicle
Police are asking for the public's help to track down the person who was the behind the wheel when a passenger fell out a vehicle in West Babylon last month and died from his injuries.
Police say the driver fled the scene after Thomas Hendricks, 20, was seen falling out of a light-colored Ford Explorer that was traveling northbound on Belmont Avenue, at the exit ramp to westbound Southern State Parkway, in West Babylon on Nov. 10 around 10:10 p.m.
Hendricks died two days later at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.
