Crime Report: West Islip Man Faces Federal Charges in Broadway Scam

Incidents and arrests reported by the Third Precinct of the SCPD between October 10- October 15.

The following information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Arrests

  • On October 15, Mark Hotton, 46, of West Islip was arrested on federal wire fraud charges stemming from an alleged scheme in which Hotton defrauded producers of the Broadway show "Rebecca." Hotton is also involved in two other federal cases.
  • On October 14, Antonio Sgambati, of West Islip, was arrested in West Islip and charged with grand larceny- credit card and criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree.
  • On October 14, Eric Daly, of West Islip, was arrested in West Islip and charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree. According to reports, Daly was in possession of a stolen credit card.
  • On October 11, a Brentwood man was arrested in West Islip and charged with false personation.
  • On October 10, a Brightwaters man was arrested in West Islip and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

Incidents

  • On October 15, there was a report of harassment on Secatogue Lane.
  • On October 14, there was a report of grand larceny on Madison Avenue.
  • On October 14, there was a report of criminal mischief on Kimberly Place.
  • On October 14, there was a report of criminal mischief on Eaton Lane. According to police, a boater discovered a possible bullet hole in their boat.
  • On October 13, there was a report of criminal mischief on Oak Neck Road.
  • On October 13, there was a report of grand larceny on Wes 4th Street. According to police, a quad was stolen from in front of a garage.
  • On October 12, there was a report of criminal mischief on George Street.
  • On October 10, there was a report of criminal mischief on Martin Drive.
  • On October 09, there was a report of assault on Montauk Highway. According to police, a 23-year-old man was taken to the emergency room at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center with stab wounds.

This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
