Crime Nearby: Motorcyclists Stir Up Trouble

NORTH BABYLON

Suffolk Police arrested seven motorcyclists Sunday afternoon after dozens of 911 callers reported 20 to 50 individuals driving recklessly on motorcycles and ATVs.

Multiple 911 callers reported that the operators of several motorcycles, dirt bikes and ATVs were driving recklessly on Main Street in Bay Shore, on westbound Sunrise Highway in West Islip, and on Deer Park Avenue in North Babylon, among other locations, between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., police said. 

BABYLON

A Babylon Village business owner faces several misdemeanor charges for selling illegal striped bass out of his restaurant.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation accused Francesco's Italian Restaurant owner Frank Genovas, 53, of Babylon Village, with illegally selling over 60 pounds of striped bass out his restaurant.

The DEC conducted an investigation following an anonymous tip made in mid-October.

WEST ISLIP 

A West Islip man is facing a rape charge following an arrest on Oct. 28 in Smithtown.

Robert Pettee, 26, allegedly raped a person under the age of 15, according to a police report. Suffolk Police declined to provide specifics on the arrest citing it is a confidential investigation.

Pettee is charged with two D felony counts, one for rape and one for a criminal sex act, according to a crime database.

A temporary restraining order has been issued for the victim. Pettee is being held on a $15,000 bond/$5,000 cash bail.

He is due back in court on November 1
