Badala, Paduano Retain Fire Commissioner Seats

Results are in from Tuesday's fire district elections.

Incumbents Joe Badala and Victor Paduano were both able to retain their seats as WI Fire District Commissioners as a result of elections held at the firehouse on Tuesday.

Badala ran unopposed and won by a vote of 500 to 42.  He'll serve a three-year unexpired term since he took over last May for then-commissioner George Iwasiuk, who decided to step down in the middle of his five-year term.

Paudano beat out retired NYC fireman Charles Frame by a vote of 465-221 for a five-year unexpired term.  In 2009, Paduano edged out Ray Rendina to fill in for the rest of then-commissioner Kevin O' Brien's term.

Both Paduano and Badala will be responsible for the WI Fire District budgets and policies.  Neither will receive compensation for their roles.

According to their website, the WIFD is the youngest fire department in the Town of Islip.  They serve Good Samaritan Hospital, 13 schools and 8,500 separate structures.
