1.  Social Networking

When/Where:  West Islip Public Library (Saturday, 10 a.m.-noon)

Why Go:  Social networking is one of the biggest and most wide spread technological leaps.  It has brought people together, made new ways of conducting business possible and introduced the world to an entirely different way to spread news.  If you feel you are being left out of all the excitement, come by for this tutorial on how to get your involvement in social networking started.  **Note: Patron must have an e-mail address and be familiar with using the Internet.

2.  Alice in Wonderland School Play

When/Where:  Udall Road Middle School (Saturday, 1pm)

Why Go:  Everyone knows the classic story of Alice in Wonderland.  Enjoy this special rendition of the tale at Udall Road Middle School.  Watch as Alice tumbles down the rabbit hole once more, the Mad Hatter spreads his madness, and the mysterious Cheshire Cat appears and disappears!

3.  Become A Crew Member Of The Oyster Sloop Priscilla

When/Where:  The Long Island Maritime Museum (Saturday, 9-11 a.m.)

Why Go:  If you love boats, sailing, fish, or anything related to sea life, you'll love this opportunity to become a volunteer crew member aboard the Oyster Sloop Priscilla.   Please contact Dave Swenson for details at 631-HISTORY (447-8679).  Visit their website at: http://www.sailpriscilla.org

4.  Pancake Breakfast

When/Where:  Prince of Peace Regional School, 200 W. Main St. Sayville (Sunday, 9 a.m.-noon)

Why Go:  For a delicious breakfast on a Sunday morning, come by Prince of Peace Regional School for a wonderful pancake breakfast.  All proceeds will benefit the school's education program, so you are getting a great meal and helping a good cause!

Pricing:  $20 for a family or four, or $6 per person.

5.  Ali Appel

When/Where:  Sayville Public Library (Sunday, 2pm-3pm)

Why Go:  Singer/songwriter Ali Appel will be giving a performance at the Sayville Public Library.  Her songs are full of intimacy and passion, and are sure to soothe everyone in attendance.

This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

I think Proposition 2 is a great idea, in the current structure you have to "call out" anRead More individual basically saying "I think you are doing a particularly bad job". Politics get dirty enough as is and I think this will increase participation and ultimately give us a better Board of Education.
