West Islip Resident Gerard Sireci Dies

Visiting Thursday, burial Friday.

West Islip Gerard "Jerry" Sireci, 63, died on December 21, 2013.

He is survived by his loving family, wife Donna (nee Viglietta), daughter Danielle, mother Joan Sireci and sister Janet Sireci.

Sireci was predeceased by his father Edward Sireci. He will be sorely missed by his in-laws, nieces and nephews, lifelong friends and colleagues. He attended New York University School of Engineering in the Bronx and pledged to Phi Gamma Delta, "FIJI".

He enlisted with the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam earning two Bronze Stars and other medals. He continued his education at the John Jay School of Criminal Justice and joined the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms as a Special Agent. He later joined the United States Customs Bureau where he retired in 2007. For his short lived life, Gerard served his country well here and abroad.

Reposing at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Highway. Visiting Thursday, December 26, 2 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. until 9:30 p.m..

Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial, Friday, December 27. Interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Gerard's loving memory to the Salvation Army of Suffolk County, 211 Blue Point Avenue, Blue Point, NY 11715.
