Weekend Events: Yard Sales, West Islip Garden Tour

Plan your weekend around these events happening in West Islip.

To support their mission to build a drinking well in Uganda, the West Islip Thirst Project is hosting a yard sale Saturday in the parking lot. Browse for items including furniture, clothing and toys and more from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to benefit a good cause.

Want to explore the great outdoors? Come to East Islip to try out some outdoor gear. is one of 11 stops on the Eastern Mountain Sports Outdoor Demo Tour, which is offering free trials and clinics with their outdoor equipment on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.

Join TADA for an afternoon of dancing and twirling at Saturday starting at 2 p.m. Scholarships will be presented to five graduating seniors at the beginning of the show.

Spend Sunday touring a few of West Islip's most beautiful private gardens, sponsored by the West Islip Beautification Society. The tour will conclude with a garden party featuring refreshments and raffles. Admission to the tour is $20.

Another tour on the flower front takes you through the peony path of . Tour the Manor’s walled garden and learn about the ongoing restoration efforts and the organizations involved with them. Cost is $10.

This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
