July 26: What's Happening in West Islip

More free events at the library.

Stormy skies move back in today with chances of thunderstorms building throughout the day. Highs in West Islip are expected to be around 84 degrees. As the afternoon rolls on, keep your eyes peeled on the skies for popup thunderstorms that could be possibly severe.

Residents can practice the ancient fighting technique of at the library today at 10:30 a.m. in Room B.

Kids can cool off and head to the at 3 p.m. today to play and build .

Also at the library, catch a screening of , the 2010 Oscar- and Golden Globe-winning film that tells the story of two Danish families. The film will be subtitled. Refreshments will be served as well, starting at 6:30 p.m.

There will be a public hearing at the Town of Islip planning board meeting regarding the at the corner of Muncey and Udall Roads. The meeting begins tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

Get to know your future a bit better with a  by Claire at the Babylon Bean starting at 7:30 p.m.

You can thank all these POS politicians for the new gun legislation designed to make law abidingRead More citizens give up their second amendment rights out of sheer frustration and incontinence of owning a gun legally for increases in savage on citizen violence. This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
