4 West Islip Residents Named 'Women of Distinction'

Margaret Campise, Angie Carpenter and Patty Vorilas among local women honored for community leadership.

Four West Islip residents have been recognized as "Women of Distinction" by Assemblyman Joseph Saladino.

Margaret Campise, Angie Carpenter, Patty Vorilas and Regina Jacoby were among seven women to receive the honor during a ceremony at West Islip Library.

"These women are outstanding examples for young women to follow, and I highly value their hard work in our community,” Assemblyman Saladino said in a statement.

Margaret Campise is president of the West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition, which raises funds and awareness to find a cure for breast cancer.

Angie Carpenter has served as Suffolk County Treasurer since 2005 and helps to efficiently manage the finances of Suffolk County.

Patty Vorilas is a co-founder of Women of West Islip. She is the vice-president of the Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce and has previously served as their president. 

Regina Jacoby is the owner of Rubber Sole Running Company. She is a co-founder of Women of West Islip, a non-profit organization for women committed to helping the West Islip community.

Islip Town Councilwoman Trish Bergen-Weichbrodt was also honored in this year's ceremony.
