Lionheart Community Meeting

The community comes together!

Lionheart held an organizational meeting on Wednesday November 14th in the High School Cafeteria.  A cross section of our community attended including High School students, teachers, administrators, residents ranging from young mothers to senior citizens, Girl Scout troop leaders, Youth Club presidents from Soccer, Little League and PAL, the Council PTA president, the Babylon Rotary, The Women of West Islip, and more.  All of these people committed a piece of their time to one common purpose - community awareness and action for those in need.

Also in attendance was MIkki McCullough, retired administrator and the founding person of Lionheart.   Mikki gave us a brief history of the organization: to support people financially, emotionally and spiritually through kindness and good work, ego free and for the common good of all.  By doing so, one not only helps the person in need, but helps themself as well.  The satisfaction derived from positively impacting those in need will last a lifetime, and the hand we reach out with is touched forever.  It is with these words that we move forward with our three prong plan of action.  First, ongoing fundraising, second, identify and reach out to those and need, and third, confidentially meet those needs in any way we can.  Each person committed to one of these three subcommittees and so the work begins.  If you could not attend our meeting, but are still interested in helping, please visit our Facebook page and in inbox us your email and contact info.  Another simple way to support our efforts is to purchase the Lionheart relief team T-shirt.  It is available at every school building or you can order it online through the PaySchools page on the school district website.

We say “Thank You” to those who have helped so far and a great “Welcome” to those joining us for the first time.  West Islip Pride is shining though!
