Who has the Swagger Now?

For a week, albeit a short week the swagger was back.  You could hear it when they talked, you could see it when they walked.  After last Monday night’s, come from behind, victory over the Atlanta Falcons Jets fans once again brandished their “we are going to the Super Bowl” bluster.

Playing the winless Steelers, at home, the Jets looked to keep pace with the division leading New England Patriots.  The Patriots were playing the undefeated New Orleans Saints.  A Jets win, coupled with a New England loss, would put the Jets into a first place tie.  The Jets would then have a chance to take the division lead next Sunday when they hook up with the Pats here at home.

However, the Jets didn’t respond.  They came out flat, possibly taking the Steelers too lightly.   Geno Smith, who last week was being compared to ”Broadway Joe”, looked rattled and played more like “Highway Geno”.  In the end, the Jets could not find the end zone losing 19 -6.  Furthermore, the Pats, who were down by 4 points were rallied to victory by their leader Tom Brady.  Brady showed what a true swagger looks like by driving his team 70 yards in the final minute and eight seconds without any time outs.  Now the Jets find themselves two games behind their perennial nemesis.
