The State of New York Football

The Giants and the Jets go into this pre-holiday weekend with visions of the playoffs long gone from their heads. The Giants were eliminated two weeks ago following their loss to the Chargers, while the Jets were knocked out by the Ravens victory last Monday night.

The Giants tried to resurrect playoff hopes following a season opening six game winless streak.  However their last second defeat at the hands of the Cowboy virtually ended any dreams they may have had for a rebound.  While injuries have played a major role in the teams disappointing season, underachievement by many key players has to be a big concern for the team as they head into the off season.  The Giants have lots of questions to answer regarding personnel on all levels of the organization.

The Jets did exceed most preseason expectation.  Even so, they have been a disappointment since the bye week.  Early season victories over some of the NFL’s top teams such as the Patriots and Saints have been countered by ugly losses to the Bills and Dolphins.   Questions surround both the head coach and the quarterback as to what lies ahead.
