Any Given Sunday

The NFL often likes to advertise that any of its teams has a chance to upset any other team.  As the league heads into its final weekend of regular season games, eighteen teams still have a punchers chance of winning the Super Bowl Championship.   Of the sixteen contests on the schedule thirteen have at least one team still hoping to fulfill post season ambitions.  Two key games feature matchups where one team moves on while the other heads into the off season.

In the NFC none of the division titles have yet been determined.  The Eagles and Cowboys, in the East, along with the Packers and Bears, the North, face off against one another fighting for their respective division titles.  In each game the winner is the champ while the loser is eliminated.  Both of the division leaders in the South and West, the Panthers and Seahawks, are in the playoffs but not assured of winning their division title.  The 49ers, Saints and Cardinals still remain as possible post season contenders.

As for the AFC, all four division titles have been determined.  However, while the Broncos have locked up a first round bye, they still need a win to guarantee home field advantage throughout.  The Patriots, currently the two seed, could gain that advantage with a win and a Denver loss.  The Bengals and the Colts each have a shot at obtaining the second bye if New England falters.  The Chiefs are in as the first wildcard while the Dolphins, Ravens, Chargers and Steelers each maintain hope of obtaining the final spot.
