On Thursday, November 14, Mrs. Chieffo’s first grade students at Bayview participated in a project called “Light Their Spirits”. The project coordinators donated 20 copies of the book Rocky Spirit – the Rocky Balboa Connection to Success, by Felice Cantatore.

Mrs. Chieffo’s class wrote notes in the books and drew holiday pictures for Troops in Afghanistan and Iraq to help light their spirits. The books will then be sent to troops and are expected to arrive for the holiday season. This was a wonderful culminating activity for the class who had just learned about veterans - who they are and what they do for us and our country.
