Ride 2 Recovery 9-11 Challenge

Ride 2 Recovery (R2R) is produced by the Fitness Challenge Foundation (501C3) in partnership with the Military and VA Volunteer Service Office, to benefit Mental and Physical Rehabilitation Programs for our country's wounded veterans that feature cycling as the core activity. R2R raises money to support Spinning Recovery Labs and outdoor cycling programs at Military and VA locations around the U.S. to help injured veterans overcome obstacles they face. Cycling helps speed up the recovery and rehabilitation process and is an activity that almost all patients with mental (such as PTSD) and physical disabilities can participate. In honor of the 10th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks, R2R is holding a special event. The ride will be eight days and 530 miles. Participants will include 9-11 survivors, family members and first responders as well as wounded heroes from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. The ride begins at Liberty State Park in view of the World Trade Center site, heads west to United 93 Memorial in Shanksville, PA, then through many historical sites finishing at the Pentagon Memorial. Riders receive housing, meals, rider support, luggage transport and special edition 9-11 clothing. A number of New York's Bravest that were involved with 9-11 have been patients at West Islip Physical Therapy. They and the surviving combatants of the conflicts overseas put their lives on the line for our benefit. Sponsoring this ride is important in letting them know we appreciate their sacrifices. I am a registered rider in the first 50 mile leg from Liberty State Park to Princeton, NJ. I am asking you to make a donation in my name. My goal is to raise at least $2998 as that is the minimum amount needed to support a rider and represents $1 for each killed on 9-11. All proceeds go to the Fitness Challenge Foundation and over 90% of each dollar you donate goes directly to help wounded veterans and 9-11 heroes to participate in the Ride 2 Recovery.
