Don't Miss: Helping Hands Toy Drive Wednesday

Unwrapped gifts can be dropped off between 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

The Helping Hands organization will hold its 23rd annual holiday toy drive on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at the West Islip Fire House at 309 Union Boulevard.

Residents can drop off an unwrapped toy (no used games or puzzles please) from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and volunteers are welcome to stay and wrap toys as they are dropped off.

Last year the group collected 5,000 gifts.

Good gift suggestions include children’s books tied together and lunch boxes or decorated lunch bags filled with assorted goodies, and cute bags of small bath and personal items and inexpensive jewelry are perfect for older youth who are often overlooked. Slippers and socks are desperately needed and Costco movie tickets for Tanger would make it possible  for some children to experience their first holiday matinee.
