Helping Hands Annual Holiday Toy Drive

Helping Hands in West Islip, Inc. will be accepting donations of new and almost-new children’s toys (no used games or puzzles please) and other gift items on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, from 3:00-5:30PM at the American Legion Hall, 340 Union Boulevard, West Islip (across from firehouse), for distribution to local charities.  Everyone is welcome to stay to help wrap (please bring your own scissors and tape), it’s a great time for children to see firsthand how generous our community is.  Scouts and students who help can earn community service hours.  Last year we collected over 5,000 toys and this year in the wake of Hurricane Sandy the need is so much greater.

As yours may be the only gift a child receives, we can accept only new or near-new used toys and gifts such as children’s books tied together, lunch boxes filled with assorted goodies, cute bags of small bath and personal items or inexpensive jewelry for older youth, who are often overlooked.  We ask that all items bear the traditional HH touch of a ribbon with candy cane, lollipop or small toy attached and that all items be labeled with the sex and suggested age of the child.

You can thank all these POS politicians for the new gun legislation designed to make law abidingRead More citizens give up their second amendment rights out of sheer frustration and incontinence of owning a gun legally for increases in savage on citizen violence. This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Has anyone been able to find out if we are losing money renting this building to this for profitRead More preschool? If I under stood correctly from previous post's, there may be some friendship with one or more BOE members which paved the way for their lease.
