WI College LAX Report: Turri Leads Duke to Sixth Straight Win

The college lacrosse season is in full swing and some former West Islip High School stars are once again having an impact. Throughout the spring season, Patch will provide weekly updates on local players. Kyle Turri of Duke made 10 saves in the Blue Devils’ 12-11 win over Harvard on Saturday.

• Brown goalie Jack Kelly made 9 saves in the Bears 18-12 loss to North Carolina this past Wednesday. On Saturday, Kelly made 12 saves in Brown’s 15-8 loss to Princeton.

• This past Friday, Marquette lost to Georgetown 17-12. Brendan Smith got the start and had 2 assists and defenseman Liam Byrnes had 5 groundballs and 3 turnovers.

• Yale’s Michael McCormack had 5 ground balls and 2 caused turnovers in the Bulldog’s 7-6 win over Penn.

Michael Sagl and Chris Messina had 1 goal each for Quinnipiac in the Bobcats 17-7 loss to Bryant.

Andrew Hodgson had 2 goals and 2 assists for Towson in the Tigers 7-6 victory over Hofstra.

Matt Gebhardt had 2 goals and 3 assists for Pace in the Setters 9-6 win over Bentley.

A.J. Pellati made 11 saves for Mercy College in the Mavericks 14-6 loss to LIU Post.

• Adephi’s women’s lacrosse team had another big week with two West Islip players making big contributions. This past Tuesday Devan Crimi had 6 goals and 3 assists and Sara Sangiorgio had 1 goal in the Panthers 22-5 win over Grand Valley State. On Saturday, Crimi and Sangiorgio had 2 goals each in Adelphi’s 12-5 over Stonehill.

Casey Sarle and Michelle Genovese had 1 goal each for Oneonta in the Red Dragons 19-15 loss to Union this past Wednesday. On Saturday, Sarle had 1 goal in Oneonta’s 16-11 loss to College at Brockport.

• Hartwick’s Jackie Moynihan had an assist in the Hawks 7-6 win over Keuka College this past Wednesday.

• Curry College’s Deanna Monfredo had a goal in the Colonels’ 17-5 loss to Endicott this past Wednesday.
