West Islip Library Collects School Supplies for Local Children in Need

Drive part of Every Child's Dream "Backpack Pirates" program.

The has teamed up with Every Child’s Dream and the Suffolk County Legislature in the 6th Annual Back Pack Pirates Summer Fest, which collect and distribute school supplies to children in need throughout the Suffolk.

As part of teh program, needy children ages 6 through 17 will visit Fire Island for a day of educational activities and fun. Upon returning, they will receive a backpack filled with school supplies.

Last year, more than 500 children took part in the event.

Residents in the 11th District can drop off their donations at the library through Friday, Aug. 3.

  • Ziploc bags (gallon & sandwich sizes)
