West Islip Teen Hit by Car Fighting For His Life

A West Islip teen riding his bicycle in town Tuesday night was hit by a car and is now in critical condition in the hospital, police said.  

Thomas Labetti, 15, was riding southbound on Udall Road, near Pine Avenue, when he was struck by a 2006 Chevy Tahoe that was also headed southbound at 7:38 p.m., police said.

BWI Suspect In Fatal Boat Crash Charged with Vehicular Homicide

A Dix Hills man was charged with aggravated vehicular homicide in a boating collision after he was indicted Wednesday following a crash that took the life of a West Islip man in June.

Brian Andreski, 27, pleaded not guilty to the 19-count grand jury indictment in Suffolk County Criminal Court in Riverhead. He faces additional charges related to the June 23 crash that killed Christopher Mannino including manslaughter, boating while intoxicated, tax fraud and forgery.

DEC: Man Attempted To Sell Burmese Pythons

A Bay Shore man plead guilty September 5 to selling wild animals as pets after investigators caught him attempting to sell Burmese Pythons on Craigslist, according to the New York State Department of Environmental.

In July, Arthur Davidson, who resides within the eastern border of the West Islip School District, negotiated the sale of 23 young pythons for $2,400 to a DEC officer posing as a buyer, the DEC said.
