Week in Review: Man Hit By Train, Injured Puppy Treated at VMCLI

An East Islip man struck by a westbound Long Island Rail Road train in West Islip late Wednesday night died.

According to LIRR spokesperson Marjorie Anders, Brendan Clifford, 22, was trespassing on the tracks when he was struck a quarter-mile east of the Higbie Lane crossing at around 11 p.m.

Clifford was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.

A puppy is being treated for a broken neck at the in West Islip after he was wrapped in a plastic bag and thrown from a vehicle onto the entrance of the Pilgrim Psychiatric Center in Brentwood Saturday.
