Wake, Funeral Set For Thomas Labetti

Funeral for West Islip teen will take place Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes.

Thomas Labetti, who is being remembered as "One of the funniest kids in West Islip," will be laid to rest on Monday, three weeks after he was struck by an SUV while riding his bicycle on Udall Road.

Labetti's wake will take place at Chapey & Sons Funeral Home in West Islip on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.; and Sunday Sept. 30 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

His funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes in West Islip.

The 15-year-old was riding southbound on Udall Road, near Pine Avenue, when he was struck by a 2006 Chevy Tahoe that was also headed southbound on September 11. He died from his injuries on September 27.

The driver of the Tahoe has not been charged in the accident.

A Facebook tribute page has been established for Labetti, with hundreds of friends, neighbors and community members posting messages of remembrance for the teen.

A petition has been created urging officials to contruct a traffic light and crosswalk on Udall Road to prevent another tragedy from occurring.

In lieu of flowers, the Labetti family is requesting those interested to wait to donate to a memorial fund to be set up in Thomas' honor.

You can thank all these POS politicians for the new gun legislation designed to make law abidingRead More citizens give up their second amendment rights out of sheer frustration and incontinence of owning a gun legally for increases in savage on citizen violence. This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Has anyone been able to find out if we are losing money renting this building to this for profitRead More preschool? If I under stood correctly from previous post's, there may be some friendship with one or more BOE members which paved the way for their lease.

I think Proposition 2 is a great idea, in the current structure you have to "call out" anRead More individual basically saying "I think you are doing a particularly bad job". Politics get dirty enough as is and I think this will increase participation and ultimately give us a better Board of Education.

Why didn't the author run for the open seat this year? Bark of a wolf and courage of a lamb.
