Monday, August 16

Tots Night Out (6:15-7:15 p.m. or 7:30-8:30 p.m.)- Music and crafts with Donna Green.  Ages: 18 months- Pre-K.  Choose one session only.  Limit: 25 per session.           

4th Annual Tweens Pirate Races (4-5 p.m.) - Make your own mini pirate ship with Mr. Burke, and then race them against other ships. All Winners will receive prizes.  Grades: 4-6.  Limit: 20.

Tuesday, August 17

 Storigami (3-3:45 p.m.) - Read the  story Paper John, a book about a man who lives at the edge of the sea in a paper house and folds amazing origami. Then practice the your own origami and fold your own paper house to take home.  Grades K-3.  Limit: 25.

A Day at the Origami Beach (4- 5 p.m.) – Mrs. Dawson will demonstrate the art of origami and show you how to create flip-flops, bathing suits, seashells and fish!  Grades 4-6.  Limit: 25.

Adult Summer Reading Club (all day) - The library's Adult Summer Reading Club encourages all residents to read as many books as they can during the summer months. All members sign up and then read or listen to books of their choice, then track their reading by filling out a book review form.  Members will earn raffle tickets for a gift basket, which will be displayed. Everyone who joins automatically receives a gift!

 "Stepping On" Falls Prevention for Seniors (10 a.m.- noon)- Sponsored by the Suffolk County Health Department, this 7-week workshop is led by a health professionals and local guest experts who will be providing information on exercise, vision, safety and medications. Areas of discussion include balance and strength training, ways to stay safe while out and about, how to buy safe footwear and how to check your home for safety. Become more aware of hazards and learn how your fall risk can be reduced. Limit is 14 people.

Wednesday, August 18

Computer Animation (2-4 p.m.) -  Learn how to create web-based computer animation using your own computer. Then, create and edit animated GIFs, stick figures and much more.

Flip-Flop Fun (11 a.m.- noon) - Sponsored by the WIIT (WI Involved Teens) Council, this fun craft program will allow you to transform a pair of plain flip-flops into a true work of art. Bring in a pair of new, unused flip-flops - all other material will be supplied.  Grades 3-6.  Limit: 20.

Sweet Shoppe Bingo (7-7:45 p.m.) - Play 'picture bingo' games for a chance to win some cool prizes. And make your own ice cream float during halftime. $2.00 per family.  Grades K-6, children and adults must be registered. Limit: 60.

Thursday, August 19

'Broadway' Dance/Gymnastics - Presented by Marchand's School of Dance (girls; 10:15-11 a.m., boys; 11:15- noon) -  Ages 3- Pre-K.

Friday, August 20

Erik's Reptile Edventures (2-3 p.m.) – Come check out this live animal show.  Grades 1-6. Limit: 60.

Read-to-Me Fridays (10:30-11:15 a.m.) - Teen Volunteers Needed.  Are you entering grades 7-12 and need community service? Join us on Friday mornings for a special program where you will read and share stories with younger children. A wonderful experience and a great way to earn volunteer credit! Seniors Fitness Classes (11 a.m.-12 p.m.) - This is a series of gentle exercises with Vicki Luckman geared toward increasing range of motion and flexibility. Bring 1-3 lb. hand weights, a water bottle, and a face towel.  Fee: $15.  Limit: 40.
