This Week at the West Islip Public Library

A list of activities held at the library for the week of December 13, 2010.

Each week, the plays host to numerous activities and unique events for its residents.  Whether it's for a child, tween, teen, adult or senior, there's always something for everyone.

Every Monday, West Islip Patch will provide a list of all the happenings at the library for the week.

Tuesday, December 14

Art Workshop (4:30-5:30 p.m.)- Children, with instruction from Laura Goetz, will paint a  'White Hare' with gold antlers in the style of the English/French School.  Smocks are recommended. Limit: 20  Fee: $3.00. Grades: K-6

Teen Volunteer Craft Workshop ( 4-5:30 p.m.)-  Volunteer service certificates will be handed to each participant of this craft.  All projects created will be donated to deserving members of the West Islip community.

Wednesday, December 15

New York State Pre-licensing Course (4:30-9 p.m.) - You must attend this course to be eligible to take the road test.  Be sure to bring a valid Learner's Permit,  black pen and the $40 registration fee to the class.

Teen Yoga (4:30-5:30 p.m.)-  Yoga, which is becoming increasingly popular for teens, is all about balance, strength and harmony. Not only is yoga good for you physically, but it promotes relaxation and an overall sense of well being. Bring a yoga mat or a towel.

Thursday, December 16

It's A Wrap!! Gift Wrapping Program for Adults (7-9 p.m.)-  
Attend and show off your perfect gift wrapping skills.  Or help others out with theirs. The library will supply paper, ribbon and bows for three of your gifts (although you may also bring your own materials). Holiday music and refreshments will be provided.  Limit: 20

Friday, December 17

Senior fitness classes- This is a series of gentle exercises with Vicki Luckman geared toward increasing range of motion and flexibility. Bring 1-3 lb. hand weights, a water bottle, and a face towel.  Fee: $15.  Limit: 40..
