A list of activities held at the library for the week of November 8, 2010.

Each week, the West Islip Public Library plays host to numerous activities and unique events for its residents.  Whether it's for a child, tween, teen, adult or senior, there's always something for everyone.

Every Monday, West Islip Patch will provide a list of all the happenings at the library for the week.

Monday, November 8

Food Drive (Nov. 8- Dec. 10)  The WIIT (West Islip Involved Teens) Council is collecting canned goods for our local food pantries.  Please donate your non-perishable items in the box located near the Circulation Desk. 

Tuesday, November 9

Volunteer with the Friends (4-5:30 p.m.):   The Friends of the West Islip Public Library are looking for volunteers for various projects.  If you are in grades 7-12, sign up at the Adult Reference Desk and you will receive community service credit for your participation.

Parent & Child Yoga (6:30-7:15 p.m. or 7:30-8:15 p.m.) - Join yoga instructors Erin and Lisa for this class geared for toddlers and their caregivers.  Ages: 18 months- Pre K.  Limit: 20.

Tech Time (11 a.m.-noon):  Bring in any questions you have regarding your laptop, cell phone, iPod, or any other technological device you own.   Call the Reference Desk for more information.

Wednesday, November 10

Teens Night Out: Chocolate Cornucopia (7-8 p.m.):  Create a delicious chocolate cornucopia.  It's fun to make and tasty to eat. Fee: $3.00. 

Mommy & Me (10:15- 10:45 a.m., 11-11:30 a.m. or 11:45- 12:15 p.m.) - Participate in activities ranging from stories, songs, fingerplays, and simple craft.  Presented by our Children's Librarians.  Ages 12-36 months.  Limit: 15. 

Thursday, November 11

Greek Pottery (2:30-3:30 p.m.):  Learn about the arts of Greek myths, then paint your story on individual pots to take home.    Limit: 25.  Grades: K-3

Tech Time (11 a.m.-noon):  Bring in any questions you have regarding your laptop, cell phone, iPod, or any other technological device you own.   Call the Reference Desk for more information.

Friday, November 12

Senior fitness classes (11 a.m.-noon):  This is a series of gentle exercises with Vicki Luckman geared toward increasing range of motion and flexibility. Bring 1-3 lb. hand weights, a water bottle, and a face towel.  Fee: $15.  Limit: 40.
