The Week Ahead...

A look at local events taking place between Feb. 21-25.

Ton of events and activities going on during a week in which all students are off for winter break.  Here's what you can expect:

Find out what's happening in West Islipwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Lights on Literature returns to the library at 7:30 p.m. with a discussion on The Tiger: a True Story of Vengeance and Survival by John Vaillant.  Join Andrew Hamm to talk about this tale involving a man eating tiger. 

Also at the library this evening (6:30 p.m.), take a crash course in babysitting.  Students in grades 6-9 can learn the ins and outs of taking care of kids and earning a little extra cash.

Wednesday, Feb. 22

Good Sam is hosting a free "Life Goes On" Cancer Support Group at 11 a.m. Click here for more details.

It's Trivia Night at Cafe Mojo (starts at 7 p.m.).  See how much useful--and useless-- knowledge you have hiding in that brain of yours.  It might win you some Mojo gift cards. 

Thursday, Feb. 23

For a buck, residents can attend a screening of Kung Fu Panda 2 at the library at 1:30 p.m.  Pre-school children must be accompanied by an adult.

Cafe Mojo will have their weekly psychic medium Joan available to all customers starting at 7 p.m.

Friday, Feb. 24

Good Sam is hosting an infants massage class from 7-9:30 p.m.  Parents can learn techniques such as: relieving gas and colic, recognize and relieve tension and fussiness, and foster a special way of communicating with their baby. 

It's also Great Games Day at the library (4-5 p.m.).  Students in grades 4-6 can enjoy Wii, karaoke, board games and ice cream.  Makes me wish I was 12 years younger. 

Saturday, Feb. 25

The Babylon Bean Cafe (located five minutes from WI) will have live music from 8-11 p.m. JP Noonan is on the schedule and will cover songs both old and new.
