As winds and rain from Hurricane Sandy begin to lash the south shore of Long Island, residents living along the Great South Bay are seeing water levels rise with several streets already covered and impassable.
A number of homes south of Montauk Highway in West Islip and Babylon Village were seen with sandbags lined across garages and front doors in an attempt to stem the tide from rising flood waters.
Throughout the storm, Patch will be posting photos from Sandy. Readers may also share their photos and video clips on this story. But please be safe!
