Snow Falls in West Islip

Winter-like storm could leave upwards of three inches of the white stuff by Sunday morning.

The calendar may still read October, but Mother Nature is giving local residents a taste of winter weather as snow was seen falling in West Islip Saturday.

With temperatures forecast to remain in the upper 30s throughout the day, the mix of rain and snow is expected to continue. According to the forecast on Weather.com, rainfall of up to 1 inch is expected during the day Saturday with winds gusting up to 40 miles per hour.

The forecast for overnight Saturday calls for the temperature to drop to 32 degrees with 1 inch to 3 inches of snow and gusty winds of up to 40 miles per hour expected.
