Robert Moses Bridge Work Starts Monday

An eight-week maintenance effort on the Robert Moses Causeway will close down one travel lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every week day for the next eight weeks.

One lane on Ocean Parkway in the Robert Moses Causeway Bridge area will be closed starting Monday, March 28 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. for the next eight weeks in order to allow for bridge painting work.

A single travel lane will be closed in either the eastbound or westbound direction for the maintenance effort by the New York State Department of Transportation.

State officials hope to have the work completed by Memorial Day weekend, but warn it could impede holiday traffic if inclement weather impacts the project.

Motorists are used to use alternative routes, especially if traveling on the road between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. as traffic will likely be delayed for the land closure set up work required.

State officials also advise motorists to drive safely and carefully through the construction zone area and that fines for speeding in such areas are doubled.
