Photo of the Day: Veterans Honored at Bellew Elementary

Community volunteers and local officials attended ceremony to remember vets following Monday's parade.

Local veterans, volunteers, politicians and school officials joined members of the West Islip community on Monday at Paul J. Bellew Elementary for a special service to honor veterans.

The ceremony, which followed West Islip's annual Memorial Day parade, paid tribute to those who have served in the U.S. Military and gave their lives.

Members of American Legion Post 1738 and the West Islip Fire Department  along with Superintendent Richard Simon, Suffolk County Treasurer Angie Carpenter, Legislator Thomas Barraga and Assembylman Jospeh Saladino posd for a photo during the ceremony.
