UPDATED: New Storm Spurs Additional Outages in West Islip

Wednesday's Nor'easter compounded power problems lingering from Sandy.

Update: LIPA is reporting 1,678 West Islip customers are without power as of 4:55 p.m.

Original: With widespread power outages still lingering in West Islip since Hurricane Sandy hit the area 11 days ago, Wednesday's snowstorm seem to have added a few additional outages to the equation.

According to Long Island Power Authority's Storm Outage Map, 1,366 customers are without power in West Islip as of 9 a.m. Thursday. That number is up slightly from the outages reported before midday Wednesday.

Currently, LIPA is not providing an estimated restoration time for the area.

The power authority is reporting 203,742 customers are still in the dark across Long Island.
