May 30: Baseball Playoffs, Parade

Five things you need to know for Monday, May 30.

Check this list everyday for a glimpse at what's happening around West Islip... from school events to sports games and Town of Islip functions, there is a sampling of everything.

  1. The tenth-seeded boys baseball team will be taking on No. 8 Commack at 11 a.m. on the road in the Class AA playoff semifinals.  The boys knocked off No.3 Pat-Med on Saturday behind a brilliant pitching effort from Chris Anderson (three hits, six strikeouts), who was only on two days rest.
  2. The 57th Annual West Islip Memorial Day Parade is today from 10 a.m.-noon.  Stop by Udall Middle School for the beginning and support your local veterans.
  3. If you can't make the parade, be sure to check with Patch later for a story and photos.
  4. Make your own American pinwheels today at Sagtikos Manor at 1 p.m.  All pinwheels will be displayed on the fence for upcoming tours.
