March 15: Make Your Own Mozzarella, Girls Sports Meeting

Five Things you need to know about West Islip for Tuesday, March 15.

Check this list everyday for a glimpse at what's happening around West Islip... from school events to sports games and Town of Islip functions, there is a sampling of everything.

1.  Make Your Own Fresh Mozzarella (Library, 7-9 p.m.)

Join chef Rich Kanowsky and learn how to make fresh mozzarella. Kanowsky will take you through the process of turning milk into curds and then forming the curds into balls of mozzarella.

Attendees are advised to bring their own large mixing bowl so they can take the cheese home.  There is also a $5.00 registering fee.  Call the library to see if there are open positions available ahead of time, due to the popularity of this event.

2.  Editor A.J. Voelpel will be filming an interview with WIHS boys lacrosse coach Scott Craig this afternoon.  Look for the video to go live Wednesday morning.

3.  Girls Spring Sports Mandatory Meeting (7 p.m., WIHS)

The spring sports meeting is for all high school athletes and their parents who are interested in participating in spring  sport. If you didn't attend the winter meeting, then you are required to attend this meeting.

4.  If you didn't get a chance to see the West Islip Symphony Orchestra perform on Sunday, Patch videographer Marc Serra .

5. Ongoing Bereavement "Drop In" Support Group (6:30-8 p.m., Good Samaritan Hospital)

The bereavement group is for anyone wanting to speak about the loss of a loved one.
