Light Snow Expected in West Islip Through Wednesday Morning

A weak cold front pushing across the Northeast will generate some slushy snowfall.

A weak cold front making its way across the country and ushering in more frigid, wintry temperatures will leave parts of Long Island with some snowflakes falling and a slight possibility of a coating of snow.

National Weather Service forecasts call for the weak front to continue making its way east-southeast, bringing with it a small amount of precipitation that will start over West Islip as rainfall.

As temperatures begin to drop throughout the night closer to the freezing mark, the rain will begin to make the switch, first to a freezing rain or sleet mix before finishing as snow on Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service forecasts little to no accumulations around West Islip, however slight shifts in the storm can cause for differing amounts – higher or lower.

In addition, the morning commute could be affected for many drivers with snow falling or ice accumulation on roadways. Please use extreme caution in the morning.

No advisories for this storm have been issued by the NWS at this time.

Once the cold front passes, more winter-like temperatures are expected throughout the week with additional blasts of arctic air forecasted.

Stay tuned to Patch as we continue to monitor this storm.

You can thank all these POS politicians for the new gun legislation designed to make law abidingRead More citizens give up their second amendment rights out of sheer frustration and incontinence of owning a gun legally for increases in savage on citizen violence. This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Has anyone been able to find out if we are losing money renting this building to this for profitRead More preschool? If I under stood correctly from previous post's, there may be some friendship with one or more BOE members which paved the way for their lease.

I think Proposition 2 is a great idea, in the current structure you have to "call out" anRead More individual basically saying "I think you are doing a particularly bad job". Politics get dirty enough as is and I think this will increase participation and ultimately give us a better Board of Education.
