Newsday, citing information from the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report, reported the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline on Long Island is $4.026, up 28.5 cents over the past month.

Gasoline industry insiders said the recent jump in prices stems in part from supply limitations as oil refineries enter a “regular maintenance period.” In addition, growing demand for oil from China is also impacting worldwide crude oil prices.
