Five Things to Know: Nov. 13

Red Cross food distribution, gas rationing remains in effect.

1. The American Red Cross will be distributing food and water at Babylon Town Hall (200 East Sunrise Hwy., Lindenhurst, NY 11757), from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

2. Gas rationing rules continue today across Long Island. Only drivers with a license plate ending in an odd number will be able to purchase gas today.

3. Only a handful of West Islip homes remain without power as of Tuesday.

4. The West Islip Public Library remains open and offers those still without power to charge their devices and access free wifi.

5. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and Suffolk County will collect and properly dispose of potentially hazardous common household products from flood-damaged homes in Suffolk County. People in affected homes may bring household products, including solvents, paints, cleaners, oil, propane tanks, batteries, petroleum products, weed/bug killers, car batteries, bleach and ammonia, to Venetian Shores Park, 801 Granada Parkway, Lindenhurst, NY. In addition, residents can put waste products on the curb for pickup.
