April 27: WI at Ward Melville: Battle of LI's Best

Check this list everyday for a glimpse at what's happening around West Islip... from school events to sports games and Town of Islip functions, there is a sampling of everything.  We'll also preview and tease upcoming stories.

• The West Islip boys lacrosse team (ranked No. 13 in LaxPower's National Coaches/Computer polls) will take their 30-game win streak and put it on the line against No. 1 Ward Melville tonight at 6:30 p.m.

Two weeks ago, the Lions passed their first test at , then a week later.  Now it's Ward Melville, who tops many national and regional high school lacrosse rankings.

• Tween Yoga (6-6:45 p.m., Library)

Yoga, which is becoming increasingly popular for young kids, is all about balance, strength and harmony. Bring a yoga mat or a towel and join instructor Jackie Morrison.

• Open Mic Night (9 p.m.-1 a.m., Biddy Sratts)

Check out this weekly acoustic open mic night in a comfortable setting.  Sign ups begin at 8 p.m., and the event is free to all.
