West Islip residents are used to the sight of sparrows, blue jays and cardinals. But a hawk was spotted on Jefferson Ave. Tuesday afternoon. Seen on a homeowners fence, the hawk had an unlucky squirrel in its claws.
While Patch editors have many skills, we're not experts in knowing what type of hawk this is. If you're familiar with this type of bird, let us know in our comments section below.
And if our readers see something unique or unusual around West Islip, feel free to share your photos by uploading them to the site or by e-mailing them to local editor A.J. Voelpel at anthonyv@patch.com
