The high school spring sports schedule is ramping up and the West Islip girls softball team will start its season with an early tilt on the road against Smithtown East.
Following spring break, the Lions will resume the season at home against Smithtown West and then head to North Babylon. The season includes a game against prennial power Bay Shore at home on May 10.
In a recent Newsday season preview, West Islip was rated as an “up-and-coming team” led by Alyssa Monteverde, League II Pitcher of the Year.
